Thursday, March 13, 2025, on the 12th anniversary of Pope Francis' election to the Papal Throne, the Rector of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Fernando Puig, will preside over a Holy Mass at 12:45 PM in the Basilica of Saint Apollinare.
This will be an occasion to give thanks for the gift of Pope Francis' pontificate for the entire Church, as well as to renew the academic community's prayers for the Holy Father's health and swift recovery, as has been done since the day of his hospitalization at the "Gemelli" Polyclinic.
The entire academic community is invited to participate; priests who wish to concelebrate are kindly asked to inform the goyret [at] pusc.it (Chaplain).
On this occasion, Rector Fernando Puig has released the following statement:
“On the twelfth anniversary of Pope Francis' election, the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross renews its affectionate closeness to the Holy Father, especially at this time when he is hospitalized at Gemelli Polyclinic.
Over these years, Pope Francis’ magisterium has continually reminded us of the centrality of proclaiming the Gospel, the witness of mercy, and an ever-deeper commitment to a culture of encounter and hope. As the Academic Community of the Holy Cross, we renew our dedication to forming priests, religious, and laypeople who are equipped to carry out this mission with competence and a spirit of service.
As we raise our prayers for his speedy recovery, we entrust the Pope to the protection of the Virgin Mary, asking for him the gift of strength and serenity to continue his mission as leader of the universal Church.”
